Gianpaolo Bigoli is an Italian filmmaker and director born in Parma in 1979. He is the founder of Wendy Film, a production company oriented to the realization of narrative and creative documentaries on social issues.
After graduating in Communication Sciences, he attended Ermanno Olmi’s school “Ipotesi Cinema” in Bologna, collaborating as author and director with several production companies in Italy.
His debut documentary “Lovebirds – Rebel lovers in India” was produced in collaboration with RAI and premiered in Amsterdam in competition at IDFA 2012, winning international prizes and awards.
His latest short documentary “Rachel’s Hiv Revolution” was produced by Al Jazeera English and was nominated for the 2017 One World Media Award in London.
Since 2017, he has been a teacher and tutor at the Corso di Alta Formazione del Cinema Documentario, organised by Cineteca di Bologna and University of Parma.
